Ginger Commodore - Vocals
Ginger Commodore has been a member of the Midwest music scene for many years. Classically trained, Gospel influenced, Jazz inspired. Ginger’s musical foundation is a true amalgam of musical styles presented with her own unique delivery, from touching whisper to full throated (yet controlled) power.
Her career has taken her down many musical roads. She began her performing as a long time member of the Grammy Award winning Sounds of Blackness, touring across the United States.
Her theatrical credits include: the World Premiere of DEATH IN THE FAMILY with the Minnesota Opera Company, SELMA with the Penumbra Theatre Company, BLACK BELTS at the Mixed Blood Theatre, STAMPING, SHOUTING & SINGING HOME with the Children's Theatre Company, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE at Hey City Theater, Black Nativity (Penumbra), HAIRSPRAY (Chanhassen Dinner Theatre). and most recently THE COLOR PURPLE (Park Square Theater).
She has been a featured soloist in the Minnesota Orchestra Pops series at Orchestra Hall with Doc Severenson. And as part of the Witness Music Series under the direction of Phillip Brunelle, she takes her musical knowledge and skills into the schools to work with students.
And now she's firmly planted in Jazz!
Ginger currently performs with the noted jazz ensemble, MOORE BY FOUR. With them she tours the United States performing at Colleges and Universities, Concert Halls and Coliseums and renowned Jazz Festivals. Portugal, Italy, Finland, Sicily and Japan have sampled her wares.
Ginger was honored to be a part of a two month tour of the U.K. as a member of the Lengendary "Chiffons" (famous for such songs as He's So Fine, One Fine Day) Special thanks go out to Judy Craig Mann, leader singer of the Chiffons and Bobby Vee.
She fine tunes her craft by working with her own group, Ginger Commodore and GCQ. It is within this setting that the full impact of what she brings to the table in each and every performance truly has a chance to emerge and shine.
Ginger Commodore is one of the premier jazz vocalists in the upper Midwest. Whether performing with her own quartet (GCQ) or as a member of the internationally known vocal jazz quartet "Moore By Four", Ginger is one singer you will never forget.
